Harold Eugene Vest, owner of Vest's Cabinet Shop was found dead in the restroom of his place of business at 805 East California Street, Gainesville, TX between midnight and 2 a.m. on the morning of Friday, June 28, 1946.Information is being sought surrounding the suspicious circumstances of his death. While originally called a suicide, this case was reclassified in 2005 as a homicide and it remains an open homicide investigation. A reward of up to $100,000 is currently offered by Herb Vest for relevant information. Herb Vest has the sole discretion to determine the amount of the reward. Comments and suggestions from experts such as police officers, former police officers psychologist, etc. will also be appreciated. This site will be updated as new information is available.
